Bangladesh is striving to boost the percentage of value-added items it exports in the textile industry, particularly by focusing more on clothes made from man-made fibers (MMF).
According to him, Bangladeshi textile manufacturers are increasingly focusing on expanding their capacity to produce high-end apparel while making significant investments to improve the sustainability and efficiency of their production methods.
He added that Bangladesh had already developed a reputation as a secure and ethical location for sourcing, which has increased consumer confidence and enthusiasm in purchasing more clothing from Bangladesh.
His remarks were made in a meeting with Vivek Kunwar, Bangladesh's Country Manager for Decathlon, who visited the BGMEA on December 11.
The meeting also included Vice Presidents Md. Nasir Uddin, Vice President Miran Ali, and Vice President Khandoker Rafiqul Islam of the BGMEA (Finance).
They talked on a range of trade-related topics, such as the state of the industry today, worldwide trends, and Decathlon's objectives for Bangladesh.
Decathlon was asked by Faruque Hassan to look at commercial potential in Bangladesh and grow its sourcing from the nation.
He also urged the well-known athletic goods shop to foster partnerships with Bangladeshi suppliers in order to develop long-term business relationships.
