In A Span Of 10-months, Exports Of Clothing In Bangladesh Rose By 9.09%.

The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) recently published country-by-country export data for the period of July to April in FY 2022–23. The overall value of garments exported during this time period increased by 9.09 percent in comparison to the same period the previous year, totaling $38.57 billion.


The European Union (EU) received apparel exports worth $19.20 billion, or 49.78 percent of the overall exports, according to EPB data. Clothing exports to the US market totaled $6.9 billion, or 18.01 percent of all exports. Exports of clothes from Canada totaled $1.2 billion, or 3.19 percent, and exports to non-traditional markets totaled $7 billion, or 18.16 percent, of all exports.






Exports to the EU climbed 8.58 percent over the evaluation period compared to the same period in FY 2021–22. Exports to Germany, one of the key markets for the EU region, decreased by 7.33 percent to $5.53 billion from the same time last year.


There were $2.40 billion and $2.95 billion worth of apparel exports to France and Spain, respectively, with growth rates of 22.21 percent and 16.69 percent. Additionally, Italy saw a rise in revenue of 42.40 percent, totaling $1.85 billion. On the other side, exports to Bulgaria and Poland experienced negative year-over-year growth rates of 46.43 and 17.59 percent, respectively.


However, from July through April of FY 2022–23, exports to the US saw a negative growth of 7.13 percent. Additionally, exports increased positively by 10.88 percent and 16.09 percent, respectively, to the UK and Canada markets.



Bangladesh's garment exports to non-traditional markets surged by 30.8 percent and totaled $7 billion in the period July through April of FY 2022–23. Our exports to significant markets like Japan, Australia, India, and South Korea accounted for $1.32 billion, $961.30 million, $889.06 million, and $477.81 million, respectively, among non-traditional markets.
