Jan-July 2023: US Apparel Imports Decline By 22.88%

The US imported $45.74 billion worth of clothes during the first seven months of this year, down 22.28 percent from $58.85 billion during the same period last year.


Between January and July 2023, US apparel imports from China, the country's largest supplier, totaled $9.12 billion, down from $12.80 billion during the same period in 2022.


The second-largest source of imports, Bangladesh, contributed $4.56 billion in total during the reviewed period, compared to $5.69 billion during the same time in 2022.


"Shipments from Vietnam stood at $8.21 billion during the first seven months of 2023, which was $10.91 billion between January and July 2022," according to data from the US Department of Commerce's Office of Textile and Apparel.
